March 3rd - March 28th Green Bay Early Childhood Center
Focus:
The Wiggle Worms will be playing at our school to kick off our new unit: MUSIC AND INSTRUMENTS! We are also excited to have a music therapist come to our classroom for the next 6 weeks! During our unit we will explore different instruments and how to play them. Do you blow, strum, beat, or shake the instrument? Our class will play music together and use different rhythms and tempos. We will practice playing instruments loud, soft, fast, and slow. We will also build our own instruments. The students are encouraged to bring in instruments they may have at home to share with their friends. If you know anyone who plays an instrument, we would love to have them play for our classroom!
*Research shows that learning music, with its abstract patterns of rhythm and melody, uses and develops parts of the brain that are otherwise not stimulated. Children who are actively involved in music:
-Do better in reading and math when they start school
-Are better able to focus and control their bodies
-Play better with other and have higher self-esteem
